The marjoram is a plant it would originate of Half East (Persia, Arabia, etc.). It has been cultivated from very old; as much the Egyptians as the Greeks and Romans knew their applications. During the crusades he/she extended for the rest of Europe.

It is about a herbaceous plant he/she enters yearly and bianual, of erect shaft and ramified with opposed and oval leaves. It grows forming undergrowths of up to 40 cm. of height. Their flowers that are small and white or rosy, spring from the armpits of the leaves in form of thick clusters pedunculados. The whole plant is recovered of some whitish short hair that give him/her that aspect. The fruits are tetraquenios, these only end up maturing in the warmest countries. The whole plant gives off a very pleasant and characteristic perfume.
